OCEAN BEACH OCTOBERFEST 2003, Ocean Beach California, 92107

Welcome to Octoberfest 2003 in Ocean Beach California for the second annual Octoberfest celebrations. The Octoberfest was held October 10th, 11th, and 12th and was a great event with a lot of attractions, food and things to do. Here is the welcoming committee that was playing live Octoberfest music for all the visitors coming in. Come on in and take a look at some of the sights and fun at Dusty Rhodes Park in Ocean beach!

One way you know it is going to be a cool Octoberfest is when the shuttle system has 5 double decker buses picking people up at some of the local bayside parking lots. Of course we had to jump on the bus to make it official and get the fun started.

I have been in a lot of convertibles in California, but none could hold 25 people and sat 18 feet above the road. Here we are on our way to Octoberfest!

Here we are on the final approach into the park. Not only is the Ocean Beach parks beautiful but the are also well maintained.
Just make sure you duck your head for the last 100 yards because the tree branches come right over the top of the bus!

There was no shortage of great rides like this one that I first thought was a Ferris Wheel and then later saw was a rather wilder version for the modern age fairs.

Where else do you get a weekend Rugby Tournament to coincide with some great sports entertainment to watch while enjoying the day and event.

Rugby is very popular in Ocean Beach.

There was no shortage of very cool double decker buses shuttling people all over the area to local parking lots. It was very well run and the busses were a ton of fun to ride on.

This ride was called the "KAMIKAZE".
No reason to explain any further after seeing the way this ride was set up.

And yes these people are all upside down getting ready for another spin.
Although they did not post any warnings we found this ride to be much funner BEFORE the beer and brats.

Great Live Music!
The Ocean Beach Octoberfest had great live music in all of the beer tents and outside. Here a very popular local band called "ROCKOLA" jams some great Led Zepplin and other rock classics that had the crowd jumping and dancing.

IN every beach fest type party like this there is always one business who is very unique and much worthy of some shameless plugs for the business.
This year it was "CHICKEN HATS", and Mr. Chicken Hat who went all over the grounds to let everyone see the great Chicken Hat Styles. Here Mr. Chicken Hat poses to give a nice side view of the chicken hat. These hats were popular and well worth a good chuckle and some fun. These hats are ONLY $10.00 and can be mailed anywhere.....so if you are looking for that perfect gift that someone special consider a chicken hat.

In case you or your family have not yet had an encounter with an extraterrestrial, the new "Thriller Ride" allows you to come in and look around and see what it is like being beemed all over the universe.

Oxygen Anyone?

Just in case you feel like you need a little pick me up, or some flavored oxygen, sit down at the Oxygen Bar, which is becoming a regular site at all the local events.

What event would be complete without remote controlled race cars for the kids.

Here adults and kids alike race remote control cars on this little indy track.

Just to show you how cool it was the bus came with two friendly 4 legged dog greeters who were happy to say hello and visit with the kids.
