Check out the Monster Swells and High Tide that came into San Diego March 15th 2005. It was an epic day of surfing in Pacific Beach and La Jolla beaches.

On a weekday that would be normally quiet and mellow, cars and people were lined up all the way down the street to check out the surfers and boogie boarders at Big Rock in La Jolla. It was an epic day of super high surf and waves up to 15 feet in size.

Come with us as we run up the coast to check out the action around the peak of high tide.

This area just north of Pacific Beach was loaded with onlookers. It was easy to see how the erosion in this area has effected the cliffs where this sign was located.

Cars stopped all along Nautilus Street in red zones to catch a glimpse of the surf on this epic day.

Many surfboards were broken in the huge and unforgiving surf. Here a surfer runs up to pick up the nose of his board out of the water.

Because of the large size of the waves there were only a few surfers out in the water that normally holds hundreds when the waves are smaller. This was a day for pro's and experienced surfers only.

The surf and tide got so high that the tiki hut area and Windandsea Beach was wet. There was no beach area since the water came all the way up to the rocks.

Nothing but a ton of sand, tossed garbage cans and debris littered the boardwalk and wall area's as the surf rose up and took away any beach normally used for walking and laying out.

It took almost a week to get all the sand cleared off this section of the boardwalk.
